U-Shaped Kitchen with Peninsula
U-Shaped Kitchen with Peninsula
Grant Avenue, Winnipeg August 2026
A full kitchen refit in a character home off Grant. The cabinetry is plain white shaker and the floor is a dark grey tile, which left the counter as the only place with any movement in it — so the homeowners went bolder on the slab than they had planned. The stone is a white quartz shot through with amber and gold veining, and we cut the peninsula so the largest vein runs diagonally across it rather than stopping at the edge. Counters wrap three walls with a double-bowl undermount under the window, and the peninsula closes the fourth side as a serving ledge onto the dining room.

The Counter Carries the Room
White doors, dark floor, nothing else with any pattern in it. Cutting the peninsula so the boldest vein crosses it on the diagonal gives the room its one piece of movement, right where people gather.
Wrapped on Three Walls
Continuous counters around the U with the double-bowl sink under the window, so the working length of the kitchen is uninterrupted from the range to the corner.
